Commit a couple of hours, or the entire day and join others throughout the nation making communities a safer place to live on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Challenge friends, family members, a faith-based group or youth organization to create a project and accomplish something great together!
Efforts will raise wildfire awareness and help protect homes, neighborhoods and entire communities, while increasing safety for wildland firefighters during future wildfires; or your project could lessen current post-fire impacts.
NFPA is pleased to announce State Farm®, the largest home insurer in the United States, has provided funding for sixty-five $500 project funding awards to implement projects on May 2. State Farm has a long history of proactive wildfire safety education to its policyholders in high-risk regions and NFPA is proud to partner with State Farm on this national wildfire safety campaign.
Applying for a project funding award is easy and takes only a few minutes:
Provide a short overview of the project that will be implemented on May 2 describing the activity’s benefits, who the participants will be, the city and state where it will occur and details on how the project funding will be used on Wildfire Community Preparedness Day, Saturday, May 2, 2015.
Encourage friends, family and neighbors to demonstrate support for their favorite project idea by using the “Vote Now” feature located at the top of the green application box below or on the Firewise Facebook page. Project funding applications can be submitted thru Thursday, March 5, 11:59pm ET. An NFPA panel will review applications and select 65 project award recipients. Winners will be announced Monday, March 10, 2015.
