Communications Under Fire: Understanding Capacity for Effective Communication During Large Scale Wildfires

What will you learn?

Communication networks are critical to effective coordination on complex wildfire incidents.  This presentation will present research findings examining communication effectiveness in wildfire disaster response networks. Discussion will highlight the role of pre-existing relationships, common institutional affiliations, and structures of network governance.

Presenter:

Branda Nowell, Ph.D., Community Psychologist and a Professor in the School of Public and International Affairs at North Carolina State University. She is the co-founder and director of the Firechasers research program which is dedicated to advancing the science of adaptive capacity toward more resilient communities.  For more information, visit Firechasers Project.
