In light of the recent recommendations and direction by both Governor Brown (OR) and Governor Inslee (WA), as well as travel restrictions set by our agency partners, we have decided to postpone the Central Oregon Fire Science Symposium until later in 2020 or even early 2021. We want to be mindful of the health and safety of all symposium participants.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please let me know if you have any questions. We will be refunding all registrations.
Please join us in Bend, OR for the 5th Central Oregon Fire Science Symposium to be held March 18-20, 2020. This year’s symposium focuses on integrating the three pillars of the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy: Resilient Landscapes, Fire-Adapted Communities, and Safe and Effective Wildfire Response. The Cohesive Strategy has withstood the test of time and formed the backbone of the Governor’s Council on Wildfire Response, but we often forget the “cohesive” nature of this wildfire challenge. How have agencies and communities achieved successful integration of these strategic goals? Through presentations of current science findings, case studies, discussions, and workshops, this symposium offers strategies for meeting the goals of the National Cohesive Strategy through the engagement of stakeholders, cross-boundary management, and the use of the best available science.
