What will you learn?
What do you do if you’re a land manager who needs consistent, current, cross-boundary datasets, but the available data do not meet your needs? Modify them. In this webinar, Kori Blankenship from The Nature Conservancy, will discuss how to adjust spatial data to make it meet your needs using examples from the LANDFIRE Program. LANDFIRE’s suite of vegetation and fire related datasets is useful for many land management analyses, but because they are designed for regional and national application, they may not meet the needs of individuals working at finer scales. Armed with clear objectives, an understanding of the data and time to make changes, most analysts can locally adjust their spatial data. The principles of data modification will be demonstrated through an example in Oregon’s Rogue River Basin where LANDFIRE data were calibrated for use in a wildfire hazard analysis.
